New York is the production center for daytime drama. This world has changed significantly over the past few years to include not jut the "young and pretty" and the "old and craggy" but to utilize all types and thus broadening the need for more diverse kinds of actors. Time and economic constraints play an increasing part in production and today's actor must know how to address these issues in their approach to this field.

The objective of this course is to professionally prepare the trained actor in all aspects of daytime drama within an actual soap environment.

This class has been designed to give actors all the skills and information they need to survive and prosper in the world of daytime television. Although you have to make it happen, I can give you a good idea of what is expected. We talk about schedules, expectations and logistics. We also spend time performing scene study using past Soap scripts. Once properly rehearsed, we then put the scenes on videotape using our classmates as camera people.

The last class we will have an invited guest speaker from one of the four NY Soaps. The industry guest will be there to answer whatever questions you might have and we will also perform our best scenes for him / her. At that time, please have your picture and resume ready.  Many former students have been given an opportunity to appear as u/5's and extras on the NY soaps.  Hopefully the class will be fun and interesting, but most importantly will give you the tools you need to seek a career in daytime television.

Each student will leave the course with a videotape of their work.
