The commercial industry has gone through much change in recent years. It has gone from calls
for the squeaky clean, bland All-American family types to a much more real, natural, interesting
"today" look. Actors now must learn NOT to act, but simply . . . "BE."
Actors who can come across as REAL people of interest can do extremely well both financially
and in gaining exposure for work in television and film.

The objective of this course is to have actors find and express themselves, to acquire
comfortability in front of the camera and to have fun in the process. Your "guide" is a highly
successful and experienced commercial actor who knows the industry thoroughly and knows what it
will take to land a booking. You will get candid but sensitive evaluations and critiques and
also learn how agents and casting directors look at actors.

This six-week basic course takes the actor through the preliminaries of commercial acting
technique. We start with a series of simple improvisational exercises designed to get the
actor comfortable in front of the camera in order to understand it.
Throughout the course, the actor is taped in order to observe him/herself and become aware of
habits, nuances and expressions while building comfortability in front of an audience and the
camera. We work with commercial copy. We break down and work with a series of techniques that
help the actor develop a more fluid delivery. The course continues with working on copy and
delivery, constantly fine-tuning and adjusting.
Upon completion, many students are ready to start auditioning; some will need further training.
All will have a much clearer and more accurate understanding of the business and requirements
for success in commercials.
